My old window works again
The casement operators on one of my old windows stripped out and wouldn't engage to open and close the window. I found this and it appeared to be just what I needed. I recommend measuring the arm before purchase to make sure you're getting the right length.With basic mechanical skills, it took about 30 minutes total to remove the old one and install the new one. My window is now functional again, so I'm pretty happy.This is not a heavy duty mechansism and works best with windows that open and close nice and smoothly. If your windows don't fit well anymore and get jammed up when opening and closing, it may not stand up very well to the extra cranking force needed to overcome that hang up.

Complete Garbage. Don’t believe the 4 star reviews.
The screws easily stripped. I had to use my own. The metal feels like clay.Once installed, i was only able to open the window a couple of times then the gears stopped working. It would only close but the handle would freely spin when trying to open.The metal is so soft that any kind of force easily smooths out the internal gears.Look at the pictures. Compare the quality of the old parts vs the new (cement color) part.Will be returning this product. I wouldn’t even pay $3 for this part. Not even worth that in terms of quality.

2 out of 3 that I've purchased work as expected.
I'm disappointed that the 3rd unit I installed fell apart a few days after I mounted it to my window. The screw that actuates the arm that's turned with the crank handle, which opens and closes the window, unscrews itself from the unit when I close the window. Damn. I've picked these up at Home Depot before. Figuring out how to Replace them online is not easy.
