You get what you pay for.
I took a risk in buying an inexpensive pair of binoculars. This model is cheap but also cheaply made. The eye focal is flimsy and can break because the plastic is flimsy. The clarity of the lens is reasonable for the cost. Again, I took a chance with this purchase because I wanted my young kids to have a pair of birding binoculars but they are not as durable like the Tasco Essentials 8x 21mm Roof Prism Compact Binocular

Surprisingly clear view for inexpensive binoculars
Ordered these low power binoculars for use in passenger reading signs from moving car. Eye cups not for use with glasses. View is quite clear for an inexpensive binocular. Great for kids.

Caveat Emptor
This Tasco Essentials 4X30 Binocular is a wretched joke that does harm to Amazon and finishes off Bushnell/Tasco as a reputable vendor. Since my purchase Amazon has rewritten the product description, now describes it as an opera glass. Yes, it is a Galilean field glass, not a binocular in the accepted usage, and appears to be the same product as the even cheaper Bushnell branded version. More than that it is cheaply made, a dime store - arcade prize worth pocket change for a child. Whether or no Amazon posts this, or claims it is abusive, they should take the product back at their expense and apologize.

A Toy, Not Good
I'll get the good out of the way first...The carrying case is well-made and very durable. I use it for my other binoculars when I can. The lens cleaning cloth is the same size and quality of low-dollar optics. That's it. That's the good. The binos themselves are made of good materials, but feel flimsy. Optically, they're good. I can see clearly most of the time, but sometimes the focus goes way out of whack and can't be brought back. The center wheel only goes so far, and it actually pushes the eyepieces towards your face. I hate that. There is no diopter adjustment, so no fine-tuning. Also, the binoculars don't open wide enough to fit an adult's head (pupillary distance). The neck cord is a loosely-woven piece of round shoestring-style cord. It's falling apart and needs to be replaced. This pair of binoculars is $10. For $12, you can get these, which are worlds better... Tasco Essentials 8x21 Binocular (Black) Don't get these. I'd say they're good for a kid because of the price, but honestly, for two more dollars you can get the 8X21 binoculars that I mentioned. The child will be so much happier. Bushnell and Tasco make some really nice optics for the money, but this isn't one of them. I'd give it 1.5 star if I could.

Good Quality, but surely less than 4x magnification? Toy
As far as I can judge, the magnifying power seems to be nearer to 2.5x than 4x. This means the product is of very little use. This is a pity, because the quality seems good, even if the low price is not considered. Being so small, there is only just enough room for my nose, but looking on the bright side, I think it would make a lovely toy, with appropriate supervision ( ie do not look at the sun)The product is significantly not as described on the box. If I can trust my memory, from the product description when I ordered, Amazon has removed a whole heap of data about this product - you don't have to be a genius to guess why. These are galilean field glasses, an expert would not call them binoculars, because there are no prisms inside. As far as I can tell, one lens surface is coated. A contact at Microglobe said the image field and magnification looked the same as a 4x Nikon binocular. I checked, and the Nikon has lenses of 10mm size - not that company's highest powered model then. Now the good points. It seems robust, absolutely no collimatiom problems, light, has a nice feel, looks good, is cheap, there's almost nothing to go wrong, it makes stars appear brighter, there is no image unsteadiness, comes with a nice fabric case, and even low magnification is of some use. You can see a little detail on The Moon.

Pobre

Senza infamia e senza gloria
