Lonely Planet Seoul (City Guide) Paperback – January 19, 2016

I loved this book! I have been preparing for my trip to Seoul and I have been so worried that I won’t see what it has to offer. However I read this book cover to cover and uncovered many things that I am going to do on my trip that I never would of thought of!! I can’t wait to see what I read in real time!

Excellent instructions on how to get places, including subway lines, stations, and exit number. Invaluable in that sense. Also has great detail on hours of operation and times of tours. Had some problems using the index since you have to know the exact name of something before you can look for it. For example, to look up the Jogye-sa Buddhist temple one must know the name "Jogye-sa" because there is nothing under "Buddhist temples".

very clear & concise guide to one of the biggest metropolitan areas in the world.Probably too concise: many points of interest merit further discussion.Lonely Planet has no competition in this market, which is why this is the best Seoul guidebook available.

Lots of really good information and ideas of what to see in the Seoul area. I love how it tells you exactly what train/bus to get on and off to get to where you're wanting to go.

This is the second book we got for our grand daughter which will be going to Korea to teach English this spring. She has found all of the books from Amazon that we have ordered to be very helpful.

This book has lots of information and excellent maps, but I encountered a couple of problems due to this book. The biggest problem was that a subway exit for a restaurant I went to was incorrectly designated, causing me to lose a full hour walking around looking for the restaurant and then eventually getting to it; when I realized that the restaurant was quite a ways from the subway exit the book designated, I checked the map again, and saw another subway exit very close to the restaurant, so it was back down to the subway, and a ride that took me about 3 more stops that I had already passed the first time, then up to the restaurant. The second problem was fairly minor - in one of the restaurants recommended, when I asked for a menu, I did not receive one, and then the restaurant manager brought me a dish that I hadn't ordered. I think it was because he didn't speak much English (just a few phrases - "Very noisy tonight!" :) ), and the dish he brought me is what I probably would've ordered anyway, so I didn't mind. I did find a restaurant in that area that had an English menu and waitresses that spoke English pretty well, but I could not find any contact information in the book where I could tell the authors about that restaurant or about the problem with the subway exit being incorrectly designated.

The pullout map, In english, was very helpful. Much better than Google maps since everything listed in Google maps in in Korean and not easily translated in the app.

Good book to read.

A lot of good tips, works the best for what places you should go and visit. However, the hotels and restaurants are often overpriced

Inoltre, la sezione finale è dedicata alle mappe di ogni quartiere a cui si aggiunge una mappa del "centro" estraibile. Consigliata per chi vuole programmare con largo anticipo il suo viaggio.

Nothing is more helpful than the Lonely planet, for sure. :-)

A lot of useful info on what to do but restaurent suggestion are not that great and the directions are often incomplete.
