It works
Having inherited an older MacPro from work with the retina screen, I made an effort to wipe it and install a new OS, I was disappointed to see that Apple change their spec's so often I couldn't install anything newer than Mountain Lion. Instead I decided to try the hackintosh route, I received a HP micro and found a YouTube video with instructions for that particular model, the only thing holding me back was the compatibility of the screen with the PC. This adaptor worked first time I plugged it in with no compatibility issues.
