Excellent reader
My daughter was assigned this short novel “A Long Walk to Water” by Linda Park in her 7th grade class. Not too long and has many great moments and messages for middle schoolers. Enjoyable and perfect for young, preteen kids. I may read it too, after she’s done.

****Two stories converge in Sudan. One takes place in 2oo8 and the other in 1984 where Salva fled from school, away from his village due to the violence in the area. Salva meets many people on his journey, He is following a group of Dinka towards Ethiopia. Along his journey, Salva loses even more of his dwindling family members. In 2008, we follow another story about Alva from an oppositional village, Nuer.

Fantastic read for adults and even mature kids or teens
I purchased this book for part of a university assignment, but was keen to know if my 9 year old would enjoy reading it, or if the themes were too much for his age. Well he read it front to back without putting it down. He loved it. I would definitely recommend this book. It does have some confronting themes but they are all important issues for people to be aware of.
