Nice pictures, but text is ridiculously boring. Don't really see what age this is for
The nice illustrations are utterly wasted on an extremely repetitive and boring text. Monkey and me x 4 went to see some (penguins / kangaroos / monkeys etc. / home for tea). I felt like a tool reading it to my son - there is no opportunity to do any character voices, or describe something interesting on the page. It's not a story, just several sentences. So you have to read it in a stupid manic fashion to make it sound interesting. Otherwise you make it sound very boring (which it is). It's a joke that this is supposed to be for 2-5 year olds! Maybe for a 1-1.5 year old but even then, I found it more interesting to read books where there was more going on! By 2 we we doing Gruffalo and other such short stories. This book would definitely not cut it. I read it twice and wish my wife didn't waste the money on it.

Monkey and Me
Monkey and Me by Emily Gravett. This is one of my favourite books from Emily. Fun rhyming story, beautiful illustrations. I love using this book as both a bed time story and an action story. It’s a great wind down book, as it’s short and sweet, and also perfect to get kids moving, doing the actions for each animal and making their noises. Started this at 6 months and still using it with 3 year old.

Fun!
I can't remember how many times I've acted out this book with my children when they were little, waddling, bouncing and stomping around. So many happy memories that I bought this copy for my nephew so they can enjoy it too.Beautifully illustrated and fun to read, and act out too!

Simply AMAZING
We have been borrowing this book from the library, on and off for about 2 years and I finally decided that it is one to keep so have finally bought it.I started reading this to both my children from about 18months old and they have LOVED it. How do I know this? Because , even when the book is not in sight my children have both repeated the rhythmic and repetitive story to me - it's pretty amazing to hear this from such young children. The simple but repetitive language encourages speech development and it is quiet poetic if you ask me. Additionally, the anticipation as they turn the page (They went to see............?) makes it and avid read for a young child. My youngest child has always struggled to sit through a book (quite opposite to my eldest) but this book has captivated her.Another point, are the beautiful illustrations which make this book a visual pleasure. Despite reading it SO many times, it was only recently I studied the pictures and discovered they give the reader a clue of who "Monkey and me" are going to see. I will be interested how long my kids will like this book because it is SO simple it may only hold the attention of a very young reader (under 5 maybe?) but only time will tell on that one and I am prepared to be surprised.

Great for anytime and anywhere
Lovely story and illustrations, my son always counts the animals and makes the animal noises. We take this out with us for a familiar story that gets him focussed

Not as good as I thought
I bought this for my 2 year old daughter and 1 year old son thinking the repetitiveness of it would hold their attention and keep them entertained, however it didnt work out that way as they both get bored with hearing the same words over and over again, even though the animal pages are fun and a surprise its the pages in between that just dont keep their attention.
