Very good quality
I hesitated to buy these Reishi Mushrooms because of a few bad reviews. After I tasted them, they seem to have very good medicine quality. They would be very good in soups or tea. Discard the woody sticks after brewing them. Great Products for the price. Strongly recommended!

Tough as leather after soaking overnight
How long does it take to make these mushroom parts soft enough to slice and to cook? After soaking overnight they were still too tough to cut into smaller pieces, and cooking them didn't make much difference. They're tough, unchewable, and bitter.

Not as bitter as you think, I use it for tea
They soften in water. When I added it to my giant jug of tea, I didn't notice the extremely bitter taste I was warned of, so I added several more strips. It probably helps if you grind them in a spice grinder like the previous reviewer said, but so far I've only tried to grate them which was tricky. They are too pliable to grate properly.I also purchased due to its health benefits, and while that's a nebulous statement, I would say it works. It's pricey of course, but I think its a very lauded ingredient in "herbal" medicine so that makes sense.Overall: Taste is not so bitter, I steep it in water to make my tea with no milk or sugar.Price: High, no way around it. I'd like to try to grow my own next time.Worth it: Yes

Frst time I ordered Reishe mushrooms
This is the frst time I ordered Reishe mushrooms. I would have liked a preperation recommendation page included. They are considered very healthy. But they do not soften much after cooking. I had to use a spice grinder before cooking in order to make them edible but had to research the technique. Now I am satisfied.

Does not appear these dried mushrooms are from Japan
The label for these mushrooms state "Product of Japan". But when you go to ImportGenius, there are not shipments for this company from Japan shown, and the "dried mushroom" shipment is from China. I suppose it's possible that China imported the Reishi from Japan and then exported it to Chung Kee USA, but that seems doubtful. Buyers need to beware.
