Great buy for the money! UPDATE 5.18
5.18.20 - Still working and no issues! Turned out to be a good purchase.Package arrived one day earlier than expected. Off to a great start with good plastic shell packaging. Other reviewers had indicated that upon plugging in the device it was immediately identified by Windows 10. Not the case with me. Actually, I was very concerned at first thinking this was garbage merchandise that was going back to Amazon. To my pleasant surprise this was not the case. The primary reason for the purchase was to have 5G service as opposed to 2G. My laptop only has 2G built in.Unfortunately, the included instructions are so hard to read for this device that until installation of the included disc this was impossible. Once the disc was installed I read the Adobe file, which I had to zoom in at 200% to read. Ridiculously small print. Unfortunately the company website is offline. So, here’s the rub on this dynamo. The secret to getting this unit to work is that you absolutely must install the mini included disc. Even if your system or laptop has Windows (10) it doesn’t matter. There’s no way around it unless by some magical outcome when plugged into your system it just grabs the device and off you go to the races. My Asus laptop has no built in Disc, but fortunately for me I had an external LG Blueray CD player, which was used for the installation process.Once the CD is placed into the drive select the drive and operating system you are using. Then look for the setup file. AKA setup.exe.Double click for installation to begin. Once completed you must reboot your system for the device files to properly run.Ok, you’re half way home now. Unless the device shows up in your network you must add the device via the software you just installed. You will need to enter your Router or cable modem KEYCODE and password and then click add. Make sure you have checked off the Radio button, which must be engaged. Otherwise, it won’t identify the device on your network and won’t work.I think this is enough information to get most folks ramped up. By the way, using Ookla Speed test my download speed with this device was (237mbps) with uploads at 11.30mbps running with 5G. I have Spectrum for my ISP not Verizon so I’m paying for slower speeds. Plus, Spectrum is less expensive than Verizon and truly stinks.Bottom line, this thing works and at the price I paid well worth the money. The manufacturing is simple with an omnidirectional antenna. Only time will tell how long it will hold up. I’m pretty good about taking care of things so your own mileage will vary.

Only Recommended for Desktops with CD Player
This adapter does work great to enable my older desktop without a wireless card to receive Internet through the troublesome hotspot now required by my low-cost Internet provider - and it's certainly affordable. However, besides an open USB port for ongoing use, you do need a CD player on the device you intend to use it with to upload the driver required to make it work OR enough tech know-how to find a compatible driver downloadable online. (The distributor of this device is an Asian company with little online presence.) With my son-in-law's tech help, I am now also able to use the adapter with my laptop (it has a wireless card, but won't recognize the troublesome hotspot). However, I can't recommend any USB adaptor as a solution for a portable device because the portion that extends from the port is too vulnerable to receiving sufficient force to bend the adapter enough so it will no longer work. (Arrrrgh!) So another issue - I've now ordered a total of 3 of these particular adapters, and #2 did not work at all. With Amazon's customer service, it was easy enough to return that one for a refund, but if you don't want the hassle and the adapter's price is not a critical issue, you might want to instead purchase a recognizable brand with good tech support.

Thought it was Garbage at first, but for $15 it's really good!
I received this product the other day, plugged it in, and did a speed test on my 110 Mbps internet speed. I was disappointed that it could only get 7 Mbps. I was ready to return it. Then I suddenly realized it came with a driver CD. Now of course I don't have a place for a CD on my PC because who the hell uses those anymore? so I had to go to the device manager and just update the driver from there which is better anyways. After I did that I ran a speed test and was getting 120 Mbps. I started downloading a game on steam and was at a steady 13.5 MBps (not Mbps) Which is the highest number I've ever gotten.

Be careful it can break easy
We homeschool, so these are important to us. I bought two of these. Really easy to install, good signal considering I have AT&T and their WiFi is terrible, not this products fault. I just have one complaint. That the usb part that plugs into the back of the computer, breaks easily. I had one do that and had to get pliers to get the metal part out, the other one is fine, we just make sure to not touch it. Now I’m trying to shop for another one and a little hesitant about buying this one again. And no there was no my child did not have access to when i plugged it in, The metal just disconnected.

This thing is a beast!
Plugged it in. Came up as a hard drive. Click it and selected Windows as my operating system.Bam! Software installed. This thing is Beast. I was using a smaller Universal Wi-Fi dongle which did okay but didn't transmit very fast this one with the external antenna blows out of the water I was getting speed as fast as 1.1 megabits per second when before I was barely getting 200 megabits. I highly recommended and I will be buying a couple more. And I'm getting 1.1 megabits per second pulling internet from the house across the street.

so I figured I need a better WiFi adapter with a high gain antenna
It solved my weak WiFi signal problem at my office location, the integrated WiFi adapter in my computer only gives 2 to 3 bars out of 5, the stability was a nightmare. I had tried other laptops, it was the same, so I figured I need a better WiFi adapter with a high gain antenna. I am not sure if this is really with a 5dBi antenna but it improved my WiFi signal to 4 bars and connection is much more stable than before. I like this usb wireless network adapter, installed easily and outperformed most integrated WiFi adapters, it is a good choice if you have the similar issue as mine.

Old Computer
We moved into a new house and there was no place to hook up our modem next to where we wanted to put our desktop computer. This little baby did the trick! My older computer is 50 feet away from my modem and has never failed to connect since installing this product. Very easy to install and setup. I cannot tell any difference between the computer being hardwired or on this Wi-Fi adapter. If you have an older computer without onboard wireless capability, I highly recommend this device!
