Lepai LP40PA 40W Mini Plate Amplifier Bluetooth Aux 3.5mm Input and Control Panel

I am a novice to electronic modifications such as this one and it was an absolute breeze to modify my 30+ year old Bose 301 Series II bookshelf speakers. I literally had only to remove a woofer to gain access to the wiring, cut two holes in the speaker cabinet (one for the Bluetooth module and one for the amplifier unit). I then soldered 2 wires from the amplifier unit to the speaker wire output of the Bose speaker and replaced the woofer.It was LITERALLY that easy. I plugged it in, turned on the power, paired to my phone and played music!* the only ‘cons’ have been reported by others too: the Bluetooth pairing confirmation tones are definitely louder than necessary - and there is a high pitched whining sound from the power supply unit - it is not excessively loud, especially since when I will use these speakers, the volume will easily provide cover for that noise. I only mention the ‘cons’ because they do exist and appear to be the nature of the article not a ‘one off’ issue. But - notice that my rating is still a solid 5 stars because this little unit rocks! And, no, it’s not the same as being connected to a hi-fi amp - but it is Bluetooth now, fits my lifestyle and almost ANYONE will be shocked at how well this works and the awesome volume that it does produce.Don’t hesitate if you want to re-purpose some old speakers like I did- or to even build a custom project - that’s next on my list!

I purchased this little unit to convert a set of floor standing speakers that I built several years ago into powered set of speakers. When the unit came, I was surprised how small it was. One thing I noticed was that the cable connecting the control panel to the amplifier is very short. I had to modify my mounting plans to accommodate the short cable. Another thing I noticed is that the unit makes a loud sound when the Bluetooth is initially connecting.Installation was straightforward and I had the speakers up and running in no time. The Bluetooth connects quickly and works very well so far. I was able to get plenty of volume from the amplifier, but that will vary depending on the sensitivity of your speakers. The sound was clear, but I would say that this amplifier did not sound as good as my receiver. However, it is not necessarily fair to compare a $36 plate amplifier to a nice receiver. I give this 5 stars simply because this unit does everything you can expect at this price point. I would definitely recommend it for someone who wants to convert a pair of speakers into a powered set for a good price.

A winner except for the short Bluetooth range. After 20 feet or so the signal drops. Should have an external antenna.

packaged well, solid build, using for a small speaker build stereo speaker. Blue tooth links fast, controller works great. with some adapting you can add a battery to make system wireless.
