I really researched which cooler to buy. I read the reviews, thanks to everyone who posted and didn't want to spend a fortune, but was willing to spend a bit to get a good working product. Went with the Koolatron for many reasons and have to say after 11 days on the road running nearly non stop that I made the right choice 100%!We ran this thing non stop nearly both in hotel rooms and in the car. After 7 days, a bag of ice I had added at home was still frozen solid and it was colder inside cooler than hotel fridge. No joke! I was afraid to put the food in the fridge so just keep them in the cooler and put the drinks in the fridge.Add a couple ice packs or a bag of ice as it help keep the temp even lower and since our Honda Odyssey Touring plug in the back turns off when engine is off, the ice helps keep the temp down during gas fill ups and bathroom runs without sacrificing coolness.I noticed no ice or frost build up after 7 days, but chose to turn in off for a short time & dry it out just to be safe. What I did notice was after that when car was turned off somehow we had a bit of water in the bottom and did not dry it out, then the frost built up. I think because the food was out for a couple minutes, persipration developed on the food. I believe if there is perspiration or additional moisture inside, then likely to get frost. Still ran with frost, but I decided to dry it out and defrost to be on the safe side. I also wiped down food before putting back inside. THis time no frost build up.Bought the adapter plug for using in the hotels and did as other reviewers said. I cooled it down the day before at home without anything inside so it was cold when we started and added only cold food & drink to it. THIS IS VERY IMPORTANT. No moisture produced. Adapter gets hot for sure. Almost scary, but no problems with it.This was NOT our main cooler, but for our foods like meats, cheeses, milk etc. that needed to stay cold all the time. Stayed as cold as my fridge at home if not colder keeping ice frozen even in outdoor temps up to 100 degrees while engine was running!We had a standard cooler with ice for drinks that was used allowing the Coolatron to protect vital foods. Highly recommend this cooler and adapter, but Amazon needs to fix the packaging as we did have minor damage and could have easily been destroying or severely damaged in shipping. Do not order last minute. We did and had one wheel with minor damage and the plastic restrainer for the lid was broken. No time to exchange, but works fine without.

The compartment area gets "ok" cold…but a wheel fell off within first five minutes of its first use!!! We literally rolled it down an office hallway, onto an elevator and across the sidewalk. Wheel just fell off. Not attached well at all. Looked like there is NO metal or sturdy hardware holding it in. Looked like all plastic parts in the wheel and axle structure.I guess it's good for something that you will keep in a car the whole time and never have to move. Otherwise..you will be carrying this crap and its weight everywhere.

Cool idea but not sure how it will hold up over time. The lid won't stay open either so it makes cleaning crappy. The cool function works pretty good though. I put some ice in the chest and then used the cooling function so that the ice didn't melt so fast. If you are taking a cross country trip, it definetly saves space with not needing Ice and keeping things cool

Great product! Worked well in our minivan keeping items very cool/cold. I plug it in empty in the house the night before I am going to use it. I put a thermometer inside to check performance and it did a great job keeping food at least 20 degrees cooler than temp. around kooler in air conditioned car! Inside the house it went down to 40 degrees at night! While on our vacation Easily wheeled it into motels and plugged it into 110volt wall socket. I purchased the Kooltron Multi purpose adapter 110AC to 12Volts sold separately. Worth every $$ I spent!We were at the beach in air conditioned house, I kept the Kooler plugged in for 14 days to store overflow food from refrigerator in kitchen! (mostly canned drinks and small items)It worked great! Only problem after about 5 days of constant use the unit began to freeze up (it is not frost free!) Easy to remedy, I just unplugged it and let the ice melt which took less than an hour, mopped up the small amount of water that accumulated on the bottom and plugged it back in to the 110AC and it ran for another 5 days when I did another quick defrost!I love the convenience of this cooler! It is easy to transport food items. Plugs into the car and with special adapter I purchased separately, plugs into any 110AC outlet! I'm delighted with my purchase!

We bought this to take on a vacation to Gulf Shores and didn't want to mess with ice. It did a very good job at keeping things cold, even when sitting in a hot car. Heat index was 118 a couple days, yet drinks stayed cool.

I just bought this last week and used it for the first time over the weekend. One of the wheels promptly came off and would not stay on. Does anyone know if Koolatron will repair the wheel or replace the cooler? These coolers need wheels that are better made and attached better to the cooler itself.We did like that it kept our drinks cold and our food. It would have had more stars if not for the wheel issue.

Bought this for our long car trips. You need to start cooling it at least 8 hours ahead but it works really well. Love that it is on wheels too.

Unhappy that power leads were missing.Also came in Canadian spec.

I purchased this for a birthday gift for my husband in November for summer camping. We used it for the first time this past week and it was a disappointment. We had coolers before and this one is no where near the quality of our previous one. The cooler does not get cold. I spent over 200 for this and its no good. My husband says it is garbage and he will use his old one.

The cooler stays perfectly cold without issue, I run a small business and have been using this cooler to keep my refrigerated products in and it has been perfect, the functionality works as intended however the plastic on the cooler juts out in certain spots where the plastic ends, but it can easily be cut off. I would recommend this cooler for long trips or for any farmers market buisnesses

So for test run is good, will see how it works this dummer
