TCM Classic Movie Crossword Puzzles (Turner Classic Movies) Novelty Book – August 12, 2009

This book seemed like a perfect fit for me because I love difficult crossword puzzles as much as I love watching TCM movies.The the editors of this book screwed up on a few of the grids, making the puzzle impossible to work with. That was a minor problem, but what I "hated" about the clues was that many of the "answers" were merely the initials of Hollywood directors and some minor actors. A crossword puzzle should have many intersecting letters. Some of the answers had 14-15 letters with only one intersecting with its horizontal/vertical counterpart.Disappointed that the creators didn't work a bit harder at designing these grids.

I found the puzzles were at times challenging but not too challenging and I did enjoy doing them. My only complaint is with the answer pages. Since they were printed small to save size on the publication I found them hard to read, especially with the tint of the paper. Would have also preferred if the book was spiral bound.

Like that these crosswords are all about movies not just a few of the clues! However some of the references are pretty obscure so if you think you're an movie expert, ha! :-)

This crossword puzzle book is a lot of fun, but a few of the puzzles having design issues that prevent you from completing the puzzle.

I got this as a present for my mom, who is 83 and has trouble reading small print. The crossword clues and puzzles are great, in the tradition of TCM, but just a warning that the clue print is very small, and so are the spaces to write in the letters. My mom had a very difficult time even reading it, so I photocopied the pages larger for her, and that helped. I recommend that TCM consider making this a much larger sized book, with larger print and letter spaces. After all, it will be the "classic" people who will be most apt to enjoy classic movie crosswords!

Got this for a grandmother who spends most her time watching old movies (and on Facebook..) she LOVES this crossword book. She’s said at least 3 times how much she’s enjoying it. And hasn’t mentioned any of our other gifts for her. So success!

I like this, but it is little too hard for me.

Fun crossword puzzles but I don't know the names of lighting directors and things like that so I can rarely complete a puzzle.The printing and the answer squares are too small for me.

Purchased as a Christmas Gift. Very pleased with this paperback book.

Good product, nice size print, good gift for a movie buff

Buying a product branded TCM, I expected this to be top-quality, and for the most part it was. Many of the questions are solid classic movie content. However, there are many repeat questions throughout the book (I can't tell you how many times Eva Marie Saint pops up) many that just required "to", "and", "of" (way too simple) but the worst of all there are typos. One puzzle had the numbers all off. One had answer space but no clue. Another, and this is the worst of the bunch, the clue and the answer were wrong and even then there was a type. The clue is he played Matt Hopper - two words (it's actually Hooper), and when I couldn't fit in Richard Dreyfuss which would have been the correct answer, I checked the back only to find that the answer they were looking for is incorrectly Roy Scheider who played Chief Brody. That's a pretty glaring error. Or like this one: Actor Sal ____ (2 words) and the answer is Mineo which is in fact only 1 WORD. Someone should have edited this. But the puzzle where the numbers on the grid are all off or in the wrong spot is just embarrassing. Definitely not up to TCM's usual standards of excellence.
