Best product and service
Some reviewers cautioned against freezing but we have had great success freezing. One order lasts us three Christmas seasons, three incredible Panettone loaded with twice the amount of citron really needed. With premium ingredients like homemade candied lemon peel, freshly ground and bolted wheat, European cultured butter, and a limoncello glaze, no other citron would do. What is sold in the USA is tasteless, might as well use squares of yellow wax. By contrast, this citron has a perfume and a bite that make eating it something people do with their eyes closed and a soft groan of pleasure.Their service is best on the planet. Frank and Sal saved Christmas! They are the only source I found for this imported citron we use for our Christmas Panettone. They received it the week before Christmas, notified me, shipped it immediately when they received the order during the most hectic time of year vendors have and got it here ASAP with free shipping. The citron is an incredible delicacy and the service, pure luxury! Still plenty of time to make the Panettone.Having the whole candied fruit means we can cut to the exact size needed once we liberate it from its sturdy shrink wrapping (an improvement on their earlier packaging). It is a jewel-like color of green. Baking is as exciting as serving and eating. Add to this a great buying experience and . . . Merry Christmas!

Beautiful green candied citron halves
The green citron halves arrived in perfect condition. They were shrink wrapped and have the classical light green color. This is what candied citron is supposed to look like! I will use them in Hot Cross Buns that I'll make before Easter (and in panettone at Christmas.) I like being able to cut them into the sizes I want. Even though they are expensive, they are very high quality--much better than the tiny green cubes sold in grocery stores (which I can't even find these days.) I always wrap them well and freeze any that I don't use now and they keep perfectly that way.

Overall a great value
I use this for my panettone - and here are my pros and cons:Pros: It’s a big package. It was just a bit over 2 pounds and it’s probably enough for 8 cakes. The texture is very nice and chewy - with a sticky sweetness. You can cut it into any size you prefer - which is nice. The cons: As mentioned by others - no ingredients listed. It would be nice to know what’s in it - but I’d be lying if I didn’t say I eat gummy bears by the handful with nary a thought to the Blue Lake#4 and porcine gelatin that’s in there. The only other thing is the taste - they are sweet - but that intense citrusy taste I associate with citron is somewhat lacking. I do wish it was more intense - but given the overall value of this and the texture - I will buy it again and just add fresh lemon and orange zest to my dough to boost the flavor.

A truly quality product!
Every year I make mincemeat for pies and to give away as holiday gifts and every year I buy candied citron. Much of the time I'm forced to buy the chopped up variety that’s sold in plastic containers at the supermarket as well as through many online vendors-a very substandard product. This year I tried this product, whole pieces of citron, that I haven't seen since I was a kid. Wow! I am impressed. It looks and tastes as good, if not better, than the stuff I remember from childhood. If you're a purist who takes pride in what comes out of your kitchen, then this is the way to go.

Not the best citron
Not as sweet, flavorful, moist and tender as Rex Cedra (mislabeled "cedar") I've had before. In fact, I gave up trying to eat it.

Excellent quality, value and beautiful--but little flavor.
So much apparent care and time was given in processing this beautiful citron. Like stained glass and perfectly glaceed, with great texture and color tint. Quality and value. But the crop of fruit used did not have the expected citron flavor. You can't begin a painstaking time-honored technique with inferior fruit. What's the point?I did a side-by-side taste test with some European citron I bought 7 years ago and froze. The 7 year old citron was excellent and tastes like citron should.

Just like downtown Manhattan.
We used to buy our fruit cake material and panattone bread material down on Essex and Delaney Street, but we don’t live there anymore. This is premium quality, wish it had product labeling however. It was shrink rapped with no product info at all. Zero.I suspect there is artificial green coloring added, but that’s that I suppose. While we try and avoid cosmetic food additives like coloring we could find no other recourse on-line.We would order again as it was of high quality.
